Over one hundred seventy five Veterans and they families were honored during the
seventh annual Veterans Day event Held in Milo on Veterans Day. The three River Kiwanis Club of Milo Brownville hosted the
event.
Members of Post 41 American Legion posted the National Colors and led the assembled in
the pledge of Allegiance, and the invocation. The Legion Post
also presented a moving ceremony in remembrance of POW/MIA of all conflicts. The assembled veterans stood in reverent silence as bagpipe music filled
the darkened hall and veterans of each of the five armed services marched in to the hall at the slow
march.
The Kiwanis club provided a dinner of turkey and all of the traditional
fixings. Homemade pies donated by club members completed the
meal. High school students from the Penqius valley Key Club
waited on the tables
During the meal members of the Milo Elementary School performed several medleys of
patriotic songs. Ms. Stephanie Gillis directed them.
As each of the service songs were sung, enthusiastic veterans
rose to their feet and joined in. Their performances were
rewarded with enthusiastic applause.
