Office for families that needed them.
Our speaker today was Gene Staffiere, from the
March of Dimes. The March of Dimes is a
National Health Agency that’s mission is to
prevent premature births and birth defects. Of
the 500,000 babies born premature in the United
States, 1500 are born in Maine. This is an
increase of 39% since 1985.
The March of Dimes raises funds to support
research and raise public awareness in an
effort to prevent premature births and birth
defects. The first Sunday in May is the March
for Babies and a new drive right now is to
collect a Mile of Dimes, $10,256 dollars. The
Key Club is a supporter of the March of Dimes
and will be working with the agency to support
the Mile of Dimes program. We would like to
thank Gene for speaking today and look forward
to receiving more information on how Key Club
and Kiwanis can support the March of Dimes.
Meeting Adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted,
Heidi Finson
