Regular Meeting
There were 19 members in attendance at the regular monthly
meeting at Sandee’s Restaurant on Wednesday
morning. We had
an inter-club from Dover-Foxcroft with four members and an
inter-club with our Key Club with four
members. Jim
Macomber’s daughter, Crystal, was a
guest.
Eben DeWitt led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and Herb
Dunham offered the morning prayer. Camille Cramer provided a
reading for the day. Kent Ladd and A.J. Gahagan
have birthdays this week.
Club communications this past week were an email from Paul
Grindle in Arizona and grant information from the
JMG. We have
determined that we are not eligible for to apply for the
grant until a 401-3C application has been completed for our
club. Lois and
Nancy were guest readers at the Milo and LaGrange elementary
schools for the RIF book distributions and fun was had by
all.
Ethelyn reported inter-clubs to Greenville and Guilford last
week with six in attendance at each and inter-clubs planned
for this coming week.
There was $18.00 in Happy/Sad Dollars-Thank you Kiwanis for
the Veteran’s Day Dinner; inter-club fun; colored
Newsletter; great play and talent at the town hall; Dec.
1st Main Street clean-up will be complete; Walter
Lougee donated flags and flag poles to accompany Joe Beres’
Milo is a Friendly Town sign; charity; up-grade on town
hall; school vacation; time with children and grandchildren;
visions of a Rec Hall for the community; nephews visiting
from Texas; Village of Piscataquis County signs; Hospice
speaker; and, Laurel reports $1800.00 in the Secret Santa
50/50 raffle and a special request that Edwin draw the
ticket for the
lucky winner at the end of the month of at least $900.00 and
ticket sales are still going on.
George Barton circulated a committee sign up sheet for
members for the coming year. Please sign

Robertson received a special request from Sophie Wilson,
Brownville’s town manager, for assistance from the
Kiwanis at the Citizen of the Year supper tonight at
6:30. Val
has made lasagna and corn muffins and a request for
volunteers to go to the supper tonight.
Our guest speaker today is Cynthia Scott, Executive Director
of Pine Tree Hospice. Hospice provides over 70
volunteers for individuals and families requesting support
for end of life experiences and grieving the loss of loved
ones. Hospice
also supports families who have family members with life
limiting illnesses such as Alzheimers and need extra help to
meet their needs.
Hospice has a library available and a Wounded Warrior video
for viewing.
Hospice also has a call out for more male volunteers,
especially veterans, to support other veterans during their
end of life experiences. Hospice also provides a
peer support group, Evergreen, for children and parents
grieving the loss of a loved one.
Hospice provides training for volunteers and is funded
through grants and fundraisers, such as their Annual Variety
Show at the Center Theater in Dover-Foxcroft. Hospice has a website that
individuals interested in learning more about their program
can visit and also sign up for training.

The Pine Tree Hospice will be relocating soon to the
Basket House at Mayo Regional Hospital and welcomes
donations and volunteers to prepare for the
move. We
would like to thank Ms. Scott for sharing the great work
of Pine Tree Hospice vlunteers with us today.
